Official Rift Fan Site

New Searchable Rune Database

Finally! I've been meaning to add a searchable rune database since I first started this site! After months of trying to find a coder to help me out, I finally opted to go with something simple that loads lightning fast, and I'm glad I did.

As more runes are added to the game, this page will be updated to ensure the most recent and relevant information is at your fingertips here at Rift Craft.

The Rift Craft Marketplace

Have you wished you could make your own work orders for other players to fill? Are you tired of spamming channel 3 (Trade) looking for someone who can make a special recipe item? Or maybe you are just looking for some work so you can skill up your profession (and maybe make a few tips in the process).

Rift Craft is pleased to offer site users a way to offer their crafting goods and services to players on their own shards. The Rift Craft Marketplace is also a great resource to use in finding players with rarer recipes. You could also list materials and ingredients you farmed, or augmentations you want to sell. If it is crafting related you can list it on the Marketplace.

To create a work order or add a listing, you must first be a registered user. Registration is free and so are the listings on the Rift Craft Marketplace. Once you are logged in, simply click "Post an Ad" and fill in your details.

Adding Listing Details

The listing details allow you to enter your character name and shard name, both are required before you can submit the listing. You are also required to enter a valid email address. This is so that site users can contact you from your listing. Your email address is NOT visable to anyone, but you are notified via that email address when there is a reply to your listing. Please ensure you use a valid email address.

You might want to say how much you are willing to pay for the item(s) you want or want to be made. If you are providing materials, make sure you include that information in your listing. Or indicate that you intend to replace materials. Another option may be to have the item(s) sent to you via in-game mail CoD. If you choose that option, you might want to make clear how much you are willing to pay. The more information you provide, the less chance of misunderstanding.

You can add ONE (1) image per listing. Inappropriate images will be deleted and may result in your listing never being published.

Example Listings

WTB Dark Iron Hauberk on Defiant Belmont

Please add Lustrous Griffon Hide Augment (wis/spell crit hit)

Will replace all materials plus tip

Contact [Player Name] in-game between 6-10pm EST

You may include any fee related details in the Price text box. A short sentence is permitted.

Example: Offering 20P or will provide mats plus tip

Editing Your Listing

You need to be logged into Rift Craft to be able to edit your listing(s). Once your are logged in, click the "Manage Ads" link in the right side menu of your Dashboard. To edit the listing, click the pencil icon under "Options".  Or you can choose to "Mark Sold" on your listing. This will show text on the listing that shows the item(s) have been sold. You would choose this option if you were actually selling a specific item.

All orders/listings will automatically deactivate after 7 days.

You may relist expired ads.

Completed Orders

When your order is filled, kindly return to the site and update your listing. To do this, click the "Manage Ads" link on your Dashboard. Then click the pencil icon under Options. You can then add text to say the order has been filled.

If you do not do this, you may continue to receive in-game contacts or email replies until you do, or until the 7 days pass and the listing automatically disables.

New Listing Moderation

All new listings are moderated. Please allow up to 12 hours for the site admin to enable your listing.

Any feedback on this new site feature is welcomed and encouraged! Please submit via the contact form.

Profession Enhancements and profession guide updates

I spent most of the day going through all the profession guides for some minor and major updates. Some recipes have changed as well as ingredient names or amounts, so I went through them to make those changes here too. Also added some helpful tips to keep in mind while you skill up for all professions. You can now easily see at a glance where to find the first trainer a low level can find to learn a profession.

Updated the lists of Profession Enhancements for Artificing, Armorsmithing, Outfitting, and Weaponsmithing. So you can see what enhancements are offered by which profession and what skill level is required to make them. Enhancements can be used by anyone, not just the crafter. As they last 4 hours, some are really worth using. Others, not so much. But only because they require a massive amount of salvaged ingredients only gotten by salvaging a lot of items. You be the judge on what you find is worthy, or not.

Yes, some of the guides are not entirely completed yet. As you may know I'm just one person updating this entire site. That means I have to personally max out every single profession to make sure the guides are accurate and remain the easiest (and cheapest) path to max skill level. Since I've started some characters on the Public Test Server (Arianera and Lallante) I think this will go much quicker. But by all means, if you see something that needs fixed, updated, edited or added, please contact me and help me out!

I'm so looking forward to the 1.2 Crafting Updates coming on May 10, 2011. And the crafting rifts! I hope you are too.

I've got some additional plans in the works for listing Runes and making them easy to find based on type and slot. If you are a programmer/coder who is familiar with Dreamweaver, I could use your help!

Looking for Daily Crafting Quest Data

I've planned on a Daily Crafting Quest page for some time and have some data already from my own experiences. But without doing every single profession and every single daily along the way, it will be a long time coming before I ever completed it.

So that's where you can help me out! If you've recently done a daily crafting quest, let me know the details in the following format:

Profession Name:
Work Order/Quest Name:
Where you handed it in:
How many artisan marks:

Example:

Prof: Apothecary
Quest: 5 Lesser Mana Potions
Loc: Denegar's Stand
Marks: 3

You can reply to this official forum thread, in this thread in my forums or via the contact form.

Thanks so much!

10 Reasons Why The Dye Vendor is Missing Again

Wonder why the dye vendor in Meridian and Sanctum are missing, again? Well, I've got some theories.

  1. Due to an unfortunate accident that involved a very powerful neon pink dye, he now has pink hair, skin AND clothing. He's in hiding.
  2. He was killed by a customer after a not so tactful comment on color taste.
  3. Random and "extra" ingredients resulted in some nasty side effects currently being investigated by the TAFDA (Telaran Association of Food and Dyes). He's in jail.
  4. His stall mate, Zamir Forsythe (in Meridian) at the Market challenged him to duel for oggling his wife. Daggers at Dawn.
  5. He ran out of ingredients and is out farming plants (bet he'll get Pure Distillate before I do!)
  6. He's really just an apprentice and was fired for whining about ingredient drops.
  7. Local thugs ran him off, or worse, for not paying his "protection" dues.
  8. A recipe mishap resulted in a very potent hallucinogenic, why sell brown dye? This stuff is gold!
  9. Madness gripped his mind for a moment… And no one has seen him since.
  10. Overstocked on Brown Dye. He couldn't even give it away. Arrested for dyeing random pedestrians brown.
  11. He's the evil mastermind behind the Ogre Army – at boot camp. Erick Adams says so!

Dye Vendor Missing, againHave you got some creative reasons why the dye vendor is MIA?

P.S. Reason #10 is the most likely answer. Some recent posts on the official forums suggest the new patch introduced the old bug that reduced brown dye to be free, again.

Runecrafting ingredient name changes, kinda

So here I am skilling up some Runecrafting and noting the ingredient name changes.

Uncommon Powder is now known as Flickering Powder

Uncommon Crystal is now known as Flickering Crystal

Uncommon has become Flickering, Rare has become Sparkling, and Epic has become Shimmering. (Source)

But the ingredient description verbage is still using the OLD names. lol

Flickering Shard – combine 3 to make Uncommon Crystal

Flickering Crystal – break down 9 to make Uncommon Powder

With so many class and soul changes, it's obvious that some of the things that made it into this patch were not really ready. And some that really should have been were not added at all.

VERY disappointed that there were no changes or details regarding Distillate recipe quest drops. If you have personally experienced an increase drop rate for rare quest items that result in recipes for ore, leather or foraging Distillate line recipes, let me know so I can share it with everyone else!

New Crafting Updates from Rift

Thanks to a heads up from Rift Junkies on Twitter, I was made aware of an a post on the official forums regarding crafting updates coming in the next major patch. Yay!

Upcoming Crafting Updates

The crafting forums have been abuzz with a lot of issues and feedback and we wanted to check in and let you know that we are listening. We’re working diligently to get in a slew of fixes and tweaks by our next major patch. Here’s a preview of just a few issues we’re addressing:

Better Faction Recipes – Any recipes rewarded from factions that used to be Uncommon are now Rare (Blue)!
Better Potion Cooldown Groups – There was an issue with potions which caused them all to be on the same cooldown. They have now been divided into groups to make them more useable.
Better Harvesting Rates – Wood, Ore, and Plant resources have gotten a major tweak. There should be more resources with quicker respawns throughout the world.
Outfitter Supply Bags – These should no longer award Wood and Metal, but Cloth and Leather.
Parchment & Vellum – These recipes will be available from Artificer Trainers and useable at Looms.

There are also numerous bug fixes that will accompany the above changes. Details and specifics on these fixes will be included in their patch notes. In addition to this we still have a number of issues we’d like to address that will show up in future patches these include (but are not limited to):

Endgame Apothecary Recipe Fixes – Replace the hyper expensive materials (Catalysts & Essences) in some of our high level apothecary recipes with something more reasonable.
Daily Quest Objectives – A number of daily quests require disproportionate difficulty items to complete (Such as Distillate) we’ll be reviewing a number of these and cleaning them up to be more in line with other work orders.
Runecrafting Materials – Right now certain materials are in much higher demand (kinetics) while others have an excess. We’ll be reviewing all of the rune crafting recipes to see what we can do to even out this demand for materials.
Broken Recipes – We’ve found a number of recipes that require ingredients that no longer drop in the world, we’ll be finding and fixing these shortly.
Tradeskill Plaques – We realize the random nature of plaques can be frustrating at times, so we’re going to take a look at plaque deliver & cost and see what we can do to make this more enjoyable without trivializing the effort needed to obtain them.
Salvaging Bones & Gems – Items shall now drop bone and gem bits, which are used in some of the Artificer temporary items.

Apothecary – Potion Cool Downs

I have followed the post on the forums about people complaining about the cool downs on all potions. While I agree it is a real issue, I gave up following the thread after nth pages. But a fellow on twitter kindly pointed out the official response from Gersh in that same thread. Thanks Soulstitch!

As most of you probably know, there is a global single cool down for every type of potion. If you drink a buff potion (like +dex) it causes a cool down on your heal potion as well as visa versa. Of course it wasn't by intent, but we wonder how soon a fix will be in place?

The following post is from Mar 5, 2011.

Potions were never supposed to on 100% shared cooldowns. Thanks to player reports we were able to find the bug with this issue, and hopefully we'll have it fixed in an upcoming patch.

Ultimately all consumables fall into one of 4 catagories

  1. Benificial – Healing pots, Mana pots, Shields etc. 3 minute cooldowns
  2. Offensive – Damage pots, short term offensive boosts, damage sheilds, lifetaps etc, 3 min cooldown
  3. Long Term Buffs – Vials, Serums, Scrolls, etc long duration buffs. 10s cooldowns
  4. Special – Special one off items that have their own cooldowns and cooldown groups

-Gersh

Potions are quite useless with this global cooldown issue. Let's hope a fix happens very quickly.

Dailies to Denegar’s Stand, Freemarch

For those Defiant that didn't know, there is a new portal at Knight's Stand, northwest of Denegar's Stand. There is a path that goes up the cliff beneath the Iron Fortress, behind Smith's Haven, that will take you between the two areas.

You don't have to run from Meridian all the way to Denegar's Stand to hand in your dailies any more!

Here's a pic.
