Outfitting is a Rift craft that produces both cloth and leather armor. This is the profession to take up if you want to make your own bags as well. The only necessary profession to take with Outfitting is Butchery for the leather you will need. Cloth will drop from any humanoid mob in the game, but the leather you will need to skin yourself. Incidentally, you can skill up on leather items alone and never have to wait to farm up all the cloth you will need. It is far easier to come by leather than it is to farm cloth – it certainly seems that you can get more leather much faster than you can the cloth.

As with most of the other professions, you can salvage some of the items you make. You get a chance on having some of the materials you used returned. Or you can get entirely new and different returned materials used in rarer recipes.

Outfitting goes very well with Runecrafting as you can runebreak items you make to get the necessary materials for Runecrafting.

Novice Outfitter 1-75

TIP: If you've chosen Runecrafting to pair with Outfitting, make shoes for Runebreaking. Shoes are the easiest item to make with the least ingredients (2 bolts of cloth). If you also took Butchery, use up all that excess leather for items to Runebreak.

Skilled Outfitter 75-150

TIP: Bags are an obvious choice for selling in the AH

Outfitting Enhancements

TIP: Enhancements can be used by anyone, not just the player with the profession. All enhancements last 4 hours.

Rare Recipes – Quests

The following recipes are obtained via quest. While hunting, the item is looted and gives you the option to start the quest. The quest item drops are bind on pick up. Only Outfitters will find these recipe quest drops.
