Salvaging

Salvaging is a skill that most professions in Rift come with. Items you salvage may return part of the materials you used to make them. It is always wise to salvage at least some of what you make because returned materials mean less time you have to spend farming for more. Or less cash you are spending if you buy from the auction house.

The salvaging ability will be found in your spellbook if it isn't already on one of your action bars. To salvage an item, it must be something you have made, or a similar item type. You can salvage items you craft or get off mobs, but only those with + stats. Most items will say whether they are salvageable, or not, on the tooltip.

Example: a weaponsmith can salvage weapons, an outfitter can salvage leather and cloth gear, while an artificer can salvage jewelery, and so on.

Recipes that use salvaged materials are in the game now and can be purchased from the daily quest vendors in the crafting area of Meridian and Sanctum. Daily quests give Artisan Tokens that you can use to buy these recipes.

You can also get salvaged ingredients from the Daily Crafting quest reward boxes or bags of goods.
