I'm really quite disappointed in the lack of shields an Armorsmithing can make. The level ranges are too far and few between!
The first one you can make is is the Tin Shield for a lvl 11 player.
Next up is the Copper Shield for lvl 19 players.
After that is the Stoneshatter Shield (Defiant Granite Falls Faction) or Nightfire Spellshield (Guardian Gloamwood Waykeepers faction), both are cleric shields.
So a melee must wait from lvl 19 to 26 to get the Iron Shield
From lvl 26 to 32 isn't too bad to wait for the Chromite Shield.
Then a wait until 38 for the Cobalt Shield.
And another 6 level wait for the Titanium Shield for lvl 44 players.
Finally, there is the Carmintium Shield at lvl 50.
I just think the shields are too little too late. If a player wants to level up as a Paladin/Reaver type of build, there are no other options other than hoping for quest drops or running dungeons. There are random world drop shields but very few even have stats until after lvl 20. Even the Uncommon (green) shields. This makes the likelihood of your finding such an item pretty darn slim. What's with that?
And notice that if you are a cleric that prefers to use a shield with a 1 handed weapon, there simply are no options but the single set of two blue items made for level 24 players. Sure, as a melee cleric you could do fine without the Wisdom stats. But otherwise, your only hope is a random world drop or instance item.
Not everyone can spend hours a day running instances for rare drops. There should be more player made options for shields and Armorsmiths than there are.
